Anthuenis calls up Gent youngster

Midfield player Gabi Mudingayi has been included in the Belgium squad to face Poland next week.

The KAA Gent midfield player Gabi Mudingayi has received his first international call-up for Belgium's friendly against Poland in Brussels next week.

Debut chance
Mudingayi, 21, is expected to be handed his debut after coach Aimé Anthuenis included him in a 19-man squad for the match at the Roi Baudouin stadium on 30 April. "He has played in the national junior teams for several years and done very well," Anthuenis said.

No surprise
"It is not a surprise selection because he can play in that position for the national team, I am sure of it," the coach added. A holding player, Mudingayi is the only new face in a squad missing the RSC Anderlecht midfield duo of Yves Vanderhaeghe and Junior.

Belgium squad
De Vlieger, Herpoel, De Cock, Deflandre, Valgaeren, Van Buyten, Vanderheyden, Van Damme, Baseggio, Englebert, Goor, Soetaers, Buffel, Simons, M Mpenza, Mundigayi, E Mpenza, Sonck, Martens.
