UEFA EURO 2004™ hosts Portugal are to stage a home friendly international against the Kuwait national team on 19 November.
Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) spokesman José Carlos Freitas confirmed that the match would go ahead, telling uefa.com: "We have played against Italy, Brazil and this Wednesday we will play against the Netherlands. They are all top international teams. Now the coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari, wants to play against a less well-known team. That was the thinking behind the decision."
Portugal, the venue for the EURO 2004™ finals tournament which will take place in June and July next year, have three other friendly dates to fill this year, on 7 and 11 June and 15 November. The FPF have yet to announce where the Kuwait match will be played.
