Letter to the press
The 30-year-old AS Jeunesse Esch striker, revealed his decision in a letter to the press, citing his lack of involvement under national coach Allan Simonsen. He had already informed Simonsen of his plans.

Bowing out
Schneider won 29 caps after making his debut in 1995. He joins Frank Deville, Ralph Ferron, Nico Funck, Luc Holtz, Luc Mischo, Roland Schaack and Jean Vanek in bowing out of international football

Denmark meeting
Luxembourg are currently bottom of UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying Group 2, with four defeats from four matches. Simonsen's side face Denmark next on 11 June. Their last international win came in 1995 against Malta, whom they meet again in a friendly on 19 August.
