Pahars missing from Latvia squad

Marians Pahars will not travel to Hungary for the UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifier on 7 June.

Latvia coach Aleksandrs Starkovs has named a 24-man squad for the UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifier against Hungary in Budapest on 7 June.

Pahars not travelling
Southampton FC striker Marians Pahars will not travel to Hungary as he is still recovering from an ankle operation but defender Olegs Blagonadezdins, who missed the 3-0 win against San Marino last month, is likely to be fit for the important fixture. FC Skonto's 17-year-old Igors Semjonovs is the only new face in the squad.

Top of the group
Latvia currently top EURO 2004™ qualifying Group 4 with ten points from four games. Poland are three points behind in second place, with Sweden and Hungary a further two points adrift.

Latvia squad
Kolinko, Piedels, Vanins, Krucs, Stepanovs, Blagonadezdins, Zemlinskis, Isakovs, Lobanovs, Zirnis, Astafjevs, Laizans, Bleidelis, Rubins, Kolesnicenko, Semjonovs, Pucinskis, Dobrecovs, Zizilevs, Štolcers, Miholaps, Prohorenkovs, Verpakovskis, Rimkus.
