The Stade de Genève will host a prestigious friendly between Switzerland and European champions France next month.
The Swiss Football Association confirmed the venue today for the international match on 20 August, a warm-up for Switzerland's remaining UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifiers. It was also revealed that the final home match of their campaign, against the Republic of Ireland, will be played at FC Basel's Saint Jakob Park on 11 October.
Switzerland currently top qualifying Group 10 with 12 points from six games, two points more than second-placed Ireland. Two wins from two in their final qualifiers in Russia on 10 September and then at home against the Irish will mean an automatic place in Portugal next year.
