Skoog on call for Sweden

Sweden have named their squad for the UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifiers against San Marino and Poland.

Injury fears
The pair have stuck with the tried and trusted, meaning call-ups for strikers Marcus Allbäck, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mattias Jonson, despite injury fears about all three players. Ibrahimovic and Jonson both missed the recent friendly defeat by Greece, while Allbäck suffered a thigh injury in that game. Malmö FF's Niklas Skoog, currently the Allsvenskan's leading scorer, is available to deputise.

More than capable
"Niklas has been in exceptional form and showed against Greece what he is capable of," said Lagerbäck. Sweden, the Group 4 leaders, take on San Marino in Gothenburg on 6 September, before facing Poland in Chorzow four days later. Currently ahead of group rivals Hungary on goal difference - but with a game in hand - the Swedes will end their campaign at home against Latvia on 11 October.
