Ismaylov opportunity
Gurbanov - scorer of three of Azerbaijan's four goals in the qualifying competition - suffered a back injury in training and his place in the starting lineup will probably go to Farrukh Ismaylov of Ukrainian side FC Volyn Lutsk, who scored the winner in the 2-1 victory over Serbia and Montenegro in June.
Trio return
Aslan Kerimov is suspended but Ruslan Gafitulin, Ramiz Mammadov and Vadim Vasilyev return to the squad. Azerbaijan are bottom of Group 9.
