Karim Benzema, Blaise Matuidi and Antoine Griezmann all scored twice as FIFA World Cup hopefuls France recorded the joint second biggest win in their history to see off Jamaica.

Les Bleus sent a clear statement of intent in their final warm-up game before Brazil 2014. Despite the recent blow of losing Franck Ribéry and Clément Grenier to injury, Didier Deschamps's men rattled in eight goals at the Stade Pierre Mauroy, five of them coming after the break.

In Ribéry's absence, Deschamps chose to field Benzema and Olivier Giroud together up front, and the Arsenal FC forward headed the first assist of the night on 17 minutes, setting up Yohan Cabaye, who chested the ball before thumping it beyond Jacomeno Barrett from close range.

The stadium record crowd of 49,626 spectators rose in unison to cheer the former LOSC Lille stalwart, who won the double with the club in 2010/11, and they had hardly sat down before Benzema fed Matuidi to register the second from just outside the area.

Barrett kept out Benzema and Mathieu Valbuena as the hosts continued to press, but there was nothing he could do to deny Benzema as the Real Madrid CF man curled a shot between two defenders and into the far corner.

Jamaica were beaten just 1-0 by Switzerland at the end of last month, yet their punishment continued after the interval as Les Bleus maintained their intensity. First, Giroud steered in from close range from Benzema's left-wing cross, and then Benzema unleashed another exquisite shot to make it 5-0.

Matuidi completed his own double from Patrice Evra's fine centre, and it was left to substitute Griezmann to add the icing to the cake, his second strike with a minute remaining a sumptuous back heel. That capped a win to match France's 8-0 defeat of Iceland in 1957, and fell just two goals short of their record 10-0 success against Azerbaijan in 1995.

The 1998 World Cup winners will now head to Brazil, where they begin their campaign against Honduras on 15 June, ahead of subsequent Group E meetings with Switzerland and Ecuador.
