San Marino had lost their first 59 UEFA EURO qualifying matches but Pierangelo Manzaroli's team are now off the mark after holding Estonia in Serravalle.

Estonia took time to threaten although Sergei Zenjov had a 28th-minute chance saved by Aldo Simoncini. San Marino then forced a succession of corners themselves, Mihkel Aksalu having to punch off the line and in the end Cristian Brolli heading wide. At the close of the first half Henrik Ojamaa sliced wide as the Baltic side were frustrated.

Just before the hour Estonia looked set to break through but Artjom Artjunin's header was excellently kept out by Simoncini. Still, Magnus Pehrsson's team pressed, Ilja Antonov having a strike tipped wide, yet in the driving rain San Marino held on for only their fourth-ever shutout and their third competitive point following two in FIFA World Cup qualifying.
