Montenegro met Sweden in their fourth game after being admitted to UEFA, losing 2-1 at home on 12 September 2007.

• Nikola Drinčić and Milorad Peković made their debuts for Zoran Filipović's side, and Mirko Vučinić (16) headed Montenegro in front, only for Markus Rosenberg (70) and Rade Prica (74) to strike back and earn a win for Lars Lagerbäck's Sweden.

• The nations have met in three UEFA age-group competitions, with Montenegro's record in those games W0 D1 L2. They have yet to score against Sweden in a competitive men's international at any level.
