Armenia v Denmark background

Armenia recorded a famous away win against Denmark in 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying and a home victory to match in Group I would dent their visitors' top-two hopes.

Armenia are out of the running for UEFA EURO 2016 qualification but gave Denmark a run for their money in their first Group I meeting, and memories of a famous win in Copenhagen could inspiring their hopes of concluding on a high.

Previous meetings
• Henrikh Mkhitaryan gave Armenia the lead in their opening Group I game, on 7 September 2014, but Pierre Højbjerg and Thomas Kahlenberg struck back to earn Denmark a 2-1 win in Copenhagen.

• The sides have now met five times in senior international games, with Denmark's record W4 D0 L1 (W2 D0 L1 in Denmark – W2 D0 L0 in Armenia).

• These sides were paired in 2014 World Cup qualifying, Vardan Minasyan's Armenia earning one of the biggest results in their history by winning 4-0 at Parken in the first encounter on 11 June 2013 through goals from Yura Movsisyan (1 59), Aras Özbiliz (19) and Mkhitaryan (82). Morten Olsen's side restored some pride with a 1-0 win in the return fixture in Yerevan.
