Fernando Santos, Portugal coach
We didn't want to be dictated to by our opponent but play according to our philosophy, though of course respecting them. The team's attitude was great today, we saw for instance Cristiano Ronaldo searching for the ball, fighting for it, running back in the last minutes of the match. The way we played and the result gives us confidence for the future.
I don't believe that the players think that they are already qualified. This win was good because it reinforces our status of having to depend only on ourselves. We have four matches to go, three away and one at home, but with this attitude it is hard to beat us.
Portugal coach Fernando Santos has called up three Under-21 players for Tuesday's friendly against Cape Verde. RC Deportivo La Coruña forward Ivan Cavaleiro, AS Monaco FC midfielder Bernardo Silva (pictured) and Sporting Clube de Portugal defender Paulo Oliveira will link up with the senior squad on Sunday and will watch Portugal v Serbia in Lisbon alongside the 11 other players called for the Cape Verde clash who play in the Portuguese top flight.
