Portugal 0-2 Cape Verde
Two goals in seven first-half minutes gave the visitors a surprise friendly win in Estoril against a much-changed Portugal team. Stade de Reims's Odair Fortes, on 37 minutes, and CS Marítimo's Gegé, on 43, scored for the Atlantic island nation before SC Braga's André Pinto, one of seven Portuguese debutants on the night, was sent off. All 14 players that featured in Portugal's 2-1 qualifying victory over Serbia on Sunday were rested. The solidarity match marked the end of a year of festivities to celebrate the Portuguese Football Federation's (FPF) centenary.

Portugal saw off Serbia in Lisbon on Sunday to establish themselves at the top of qualifying Group I after making it three wins in a row. Since beginning with a home defeat by Albania, Portugal have found their feet and their positive run continued as Ricardo Carvalho headed in an early opener. Nemanja Matić's spectacular volley brought Radovan Ćurčić's team momentarily level, but Fábio Coentrão decided matters moments later to give his side their first victory against Serbia at the third attempt.
