Belgium 3-1 Iceland
Nicolas Lombaerts headed Belgium into an 11th-minute lead from Adnan Januzaj's free-kick. Iceland swiftly levelled when a corner from the right was missed by everyone, affording Alfred Finnbogason the chance to nod the ball in from close range. Half-time substitute Divock Origi made it 2-1, receiving possession just outside the area and scoring with a low left-footed strike. Romelu Lukaku, who also came on at the break, turned in Dries Mertens' pass with 17 minutes remaining.
Belarus midfielder Anton Putilo is refusing to consider defeat despite his side travelling to the current European champions for their next Group C fixture. "They are former world champions and current European champions. It is an away match. It is obviously a tough one. But you just cannot take the field, thinking about defeat," said the FC Torpedo Moskva man. "We have hope for points. Belarus have to fight in order to qualify for the EURO finals. There's still chance, though it's not a big one. We just have to battle for it."
