Andriy Zygmantovich has been discussing his role as interim coach of Belarus, a position he has held since last month's resignation of Georgi Kondratiev. "Only victory is a success for me as a coach, but avoiding a loss can also be a success if you face a team from the top 20," said Zygmantovich. "I'm not really affected by the fact I'm just doing a caretaker's job. The most interesting thing for me is to prepare a team for the games against Spain and Mexico. As for the future ... the team will not be left without a coach, that's for sure."
The match against Slovakia [on Sunday] will be crucial. If we win we will still have chances to qualify. Even a draw, however, will mean that our chances are almost gone. For now, though, I don't want to contemplate failure. I want to be optimistic.
