After a win in Ukraine and now a 2-1 home success against European champions Spain, Slovakia coach Ján Kozák is delighted with his side who sit top of Group C.

I feel really happy at the moment. We have put in a fantastic performance in front of a full stadium. This win is very precious. Our players showed a very brave performance.

At the back we fought very hard, gave our best. All the boys showed fantastic effort and played until the final whistle. They gave us hard times. We had players who were suffering from cramp but they suffered through the pain and made the whole country happy.

"So it was, goal Mak just scored a goal," beams the headline in Slovak daily Šport in the wake of Róbert Mak's Group C winner against Ukraine in Kyiv. "This was one of the goals of my life," said the PAOK FC man. It was an indubitably happy Monday for Slovakia, given that a 1-0 victory at section favourites the Netherlands also earned them a place in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-offs as group winners. "I will never forget this match," said U21 goalkeeper Dobrivoj Rusov.
