With defender Viktor Dmitrenko out with a thigh injury and forward Baurzhan Dzholchiyev suspended after receiving a red card in the 3-1 loss against the Netherlands, Kazakhstan head coach Yuri Krasnozhan has added FC Shakhter Karagandy defender Aleksandr Kirov and FC Kairat Almaty midfielder Aslan Darabayev to his squad to face the Czech Republic. Krasnozhan does not believe the artificial pitch at the Astana Arena will help his side: "The key factor will be our game and support of our fans - the pitch is the same for both sides. Still, the Czechs might need some time to get used for it." Samat Smakov, absent with a thigh injury, will make his debut as a TV pundit for the game.
Playmaker Bauyrzhan Islamkhan will not be able to help Kazakhstan in their qualifier in the Netherlands after injury ruled out the 21-year-old. The midfielder has stayed in Astana having become the third of the country's players to drop out of the squad following Samat Smakov and Heinrich Schmidtgal.
