Kazakhstan's first-choice striker Sergei Khizhnichenko will miss Saturday's home qualifier against Iceland after suffering a hamstring injury. The 23-year old forward is expected to be sidelined for at least ten days. The Aktobe marksman will also miss the international friendly against Russia on 31 March.
Yuri Krasnozhan, Kazakhstan coach:
Just like Turkey, we only have one point. We all know that Turkey are the favourites for the game. A point may be regarded as a success for us, but we will go out there for a win. The Turkey match will be difficult. We’ll be under pressure and so we need to be decisive.
