Liechtenstein were forced to put in a tough shift to earn a 0-0 draw against Montenegro last night, but it was a result which was fully deserved according to the Liechtensteiner Volksblatt. "Montenegro had a lot more chances during the game to score, but could not put them away," said the newspaper.
The hosts paid a high price for their point however, with both midfielder Sandro Wieser and goalkeeper Peter Jehle forced off due to injury. Jehle explained to the paper: "I felt a twinge when I parried a shot. It will probably be either a muscle or a tendon problem but we will see tomorrow. I could not carry on; I had no strength left in my arm."
It is not clear yet as to whether Jehle will be back between the posts on Sunday in Sweden, but according to the keeper, his own fate is of secondary importance: "I have a lot of happy feelings in my body at the moment. I am incredibly proud of the boys because we worked hard to get a point. We put our blood, sweat and tears into the game. Montenegro did not gift us anything; they came at us with wave after wave of attacks. It is really nice to be rewarded."
