Liechtenstein defender Ivan Quintans is likely to miss the qualifiers against Moldova in June and Russia in September after tearing the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments in his left knee.
The 25-year-old, who plays for FC Balzers, was taken off after 55 minutes of Sunday's 5-0 defeat against Austria and is expected to need at least six months to recover. Quintans has also torn the lateral collateral ligament, the meniscus and a tendon, as well as damaging cartilage.
"I picked up the injury in the 54th minute after an aerial dual; I hit the ground awkwardly and my knee twisted severely,” said Quintans. "It's still not clear whether I’ll be operated on now or in a few weeks time. Normally it would take six to nine months to recover from this sort of injury. I will remain positive and want to return as quickly as possible."

Austria were even better than we had thought. At the start of the game we were very focused and played well. Being such a small country was a psychological disadvantage for us.
