Netherlands 2-0 Spain
Oranje coach Guus Hiddink made five changes to the side held 1-1 by Turkey in Saturday's qualifier, also at the Amsterdam ArenA. Stefan de Vrij scored a 13th-minute opener – nodding in Wesley Sneijder's cross – to give the hosts the lead in a repeat of both the 2010 FIFA World Cup final and last summer's group game. Three minutes later Davy Klaassen (pictured), one of the replacements, doubled the advantage with his first international strike – scoring a rebound after his first effort was saved by David de Gea.
