Kazakhstan will be determined not to lose their focus as they come up against Austria for a second time in Group A, mindful that their opening UEFA EURO 2012 meeting in Salzburg had a nasty sting in the tail.
• Neither side can now reach the finals of UEFA EURO 2012.
• The visitors looked to have secured a point with the game goalless after 90 minutes, but Roland Linz and substitute Erwin Hoffer struck last-gasp efforts to send the Salzburg crowd home happy and hand Kazakhstan a 2-0 defeat.
• That game was Austria's first meeting with Kazakhstan at senior level.
• Clubs representing the two nations have met in three two-legged UEFA club competition ties, all of which the Austrian side won comfortably. Of those six victories, there was only one occasion – SV Mattersburg's 4-2 UEFA Cup first-round win against FK Aktobe on 2 August 2007 – when the Kazakh side actually scored a goal.
