Wales will look to score their first goal on Swiss soil when the sides meet for a sixth time in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group G, 11 years and three days after their most recent encounter.
• Switzerland's record in five games against Wales is W4 D0 L1 (W3 D0 L0 at home).
• The teams last came together in UEFA EURO 2000 qualifying. Stéphane Chapuisat struck both goals as Switzerland won 2-0 in Zurich, before an effort either side of half-time from Alexandre Rey and Patrick Bühlmann helped them triumph 2-0 in Wrexham on 9 October 1999.
• Wales's three previous away trips to Switzerland have all ended in defeat, starting with their 4-0 loss when the sides crossed swords for the first time in Berne on 26 May 1949. Since then, they have suffered a pair of 2-0 losses, in Lugano on 24 April 1996 and the aforementioned match in Zurich on 31 March 1999.
• Welsh clubs have nonetheless prevailed in both the two-legged UEFA club competition ties between outfits from the two nations. The Swiss sides' record in those four games reads W1 D1 L2.
