Spain will look to get over their matchday two wobble and press on towards the final tournament in France as they welcome Belarus in UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying Group C.

Match background
Spain have won both of their previous matches against Belarus, a 4-0 away victory and a 2-1 home win in 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying.

• The 12 meetings between the nations' clubs in UEFA competitions before this season ended in ten Spanish wins and two draws. Combined, those two stalemates allowed FC Dinamo Minsk to eliminate Real Sociedad de Fútbol on away goals in the 1987/88 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup second round. Things got even better for FC BATE Borisov on matchday two of this season's UEFA Champions League group stage, however, as they enjoyed a 2-1 home victory against Athletic Club.

• The only previous men's victory against Spain for a side from Belarus came in qualifying for the defunct UEFA European Under-16 Championship, where Belarus beat Spain 1-0 in the Republic of Ireland in 1994. The nations' three subsequent UEFA men's age-group competition meetings all produced Spanish wins.

• This is Spain's first competitive international at the Estadio Nuevo Colombino, home of Real Club Recreativo de Huelva. Their two friendly matches in the city both ended in victory – against Mexico (1-0, 2001) and Peru (2-1, 2008). Spain's Under-21s also played two European qualifiers in the city – both of which ended in 1-0 wins.
