Adam Nawałka, Poland coach
We're very happy with another three points, making it seven in total. We haven't conceded a goal and we're still going forward. We started well and created a couple of chances, but later on we lost control of the midfield and weren't winning the second balls. Ukraine created some opportunities, but that's not unexpected given their quality.
Because we were losing control in the middle I made the substitution [bringing on goalscorer Jakub Błaszczykowski]. Against Switzerland [in the round of 16] the match will be played in the manner we want it to be.
That Lewandowski hasn't scored yet is not a problem whatsoever. He's doing a lot of hard work and has had a big influence on our wins and how we have played. He's incredibly important for us. It's just a matter of time for him, he's creating a lot of chances, and I think he'll score in the next match.
Błaszczykowski is also important for us. He's very experienced and has a great influence on how we play – he proved that tonight. He increased the quality of our performance and I'll count on him in the coming matches. He will start against Switzerland.
Mykhailo Fomenko, Ukraine coach
You don't have to thank me for [19-year-old Olexandr] Zinchenko, you should thank his coaches. I don't have any complaints today because we played football. I hope the players use this experience. If they work hard they will eventually take their chances in front of goal.
When you work with a national team and don't get a positive result you have to think about things. Only then can I answer your question about my future.
Ruslan Rotan, Ukraine midfielder and man of the match
I'm very pleased with the award. I tried to give my maximum, but most of all I wanted the team to win. We were eliminated after two games and wanted to save some face, but unfortunately we couldn't achieve that.
The result was negative and there are a bunch of reasons for this. We could talk about the atmosphere in the team, but I can only say that it was positive – the players found common ground and had a nice time together. The biggest thing, maybe, is that we must work on our psychological level. Maybe we don't have the right mentality.
Fomenko thanked us for our work and said he was proud of us. We have to accept the result. We've been criticised a lot, but every professional player has to go through this and deal with it.
