Faroe Islands coach Lars Olsen has extended his contract for another four years until after UEFA EURO 2020. Appointed on 8 November 2011, Olsen notably led the Faroes to victory in Greece in November. They are still ahead of the 2004 champions in UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying Group F.
Olsen said: "I would rather not let go now. Now I have the opportunity to contribute to the development of Faroese football the next two qualifying campaigns – and hopefully a final tournament.
"These four years I have been national coach have taught me a great deal. The Faroese will can move mountains and our players can hold their own against foreign world stars, although ours are not full-time professionals."
Faroe Islands goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen was unhappy with the 1-0 defeat at Romania on Sunday. "We still have ambitions even though we're a small country," he stated. "We prepared for this match in order to win, because this is our mentality. Romania deserved their victory but we were in the game and you can be sure that we'll get more points in the future. Right now I am disappointed."
