Safet Sušić, Bosnia and Herzegovina coach
We did not start the game the way we wanted. Israel were much better tonight and they deserved a win. Technically we did not live up to our potential and that is what cost us a solid result. They over ran us in our strongest area – midfield. I was convinced that we would give a good performance, but we were handicapped by Edin Džeko and Vedad Ibišević's absence and we failed to reached our goal. It was even harder in the second half, playing with ten players.
Bosnia and Herzegovina have taken off from the Sarajevo International Airport bound for Tel Aviv, and will then continue on to Haifa, where they meet Israel on Sunday. The players and the coaching staff are feeling positive, with coach Safet Sušić explaining: "We will play to win, just like our hosts. We can't count on our two strikers, Edin Džeko and Vedad Ibišević, but we have the players who can score winning goals." Concerns over goalkeeper Asmir Begović's fitness have subsided; the new captain's injury has healed his injury and he will be ready to lead his team-mates in Israel.
