Duff returns for Dublin date

Chelsea FC's Damien Duff has been recalled by the Republic of Ireland for the friendly against Australia.

Chelsea FC midfield player Damien Duff was recalled to the Republic of Ireland squad on Thursday for an international friendly against Australia in Dublin on 19 August.

Successive victories
Duff, who joined the big-spending London club for €24m last month from Blackburn Rovers FC, missed the 2-0 UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying victory against Georgia on 11 June after picking up a leg injury in the 2-1 Group 10 defeat of Albania four days earlier.

Second place
Liverpool FC defender Steve Finnan, Birmingham City FC striker Clinton Morrison and Newcastle United FC defender Andy O'Brien also return after injury. The Irish are in second place in Group 10, two points behind the leaders Switzerland and three ahead of Russia, their next qualifying opponents on 6 September, who have a game in hand.
