Amica comeback stuns Servette

Servette FC 2-3 KS Amica Wronki Poland's Amica produce a superb comeback in Switzerland.

Servette FC 2-3 KS Amica Wronki
Servette FC fell apart in the second half after going two goals ahead, conceding three goals to Polish visitors KS Amica Wronki and seriously compromising their chances of a UEFA Cup run.

Two halves
It was very much a game of two halves for the Swiss outfit in this first round first-leg tie. In the first half they dominated matters, missing several chances, before Goran Obradovic gave them a deserved lead in the 26th minute. Servette looked well on their way to success when Alexander Frei gave them a two-goal cushion in the 59th minute – but suddenly the athletic Polish side turned the game completely on its head.

Unlikely comeback
Grzegorz Król reduced the arrears after 62 minutes, and as the Swiss side struggled to cope with their determined visitors, Amica stormed into a 3-2 lead that had hardly seemed likely. Marek Zienczuk equalised after 70 minutes, and Król scored an unlikely winner with five minutes left.

Servette shocked
"I can't explain what went wrong," said shocked Servette coach Roberto Morinini. "I told the players to continue as they had played in the first half, but we collapsed as a team, because we tried to play too much as individuals in the second half."

Best level
Amica coach Miroslaw Jablonski was jubilant. "We played to the best of our abilities in the second half, but we have to remain vigilant for the second leg. This match is not yet over."
