Neuendorf ban hurts Hertha

Hertha BSC Berlin's Andreas Neuendorf and Dejan Zivkovic of FK Partizan have both received UEFA Cup bans.

Hertha BSC Berlin's Andreas Neuendorf has received a four-match ban following his sending-off against Aberdeen FC in the UEFA Cup first round.

Headbutted opponent
The German midfield player will sit out the second-round tie against APOEL Nicosia FC and also both third-round matches, should Hertha defeat their Cypriot opponents. Neuendorf was sent off in the 38th minute of the 1-0 second-leg win over Aberdeen on 1 October after headbutting Philip McGuire.

Fines to pay
Besides the suspension, UEFA have also fined the player €6,800, adding to a fine he has also received from his club. Hertha have until midnight on Monday to appeal against the decision, although Neuendorf said: "I will accept the decision."

Zivkovic ban
FK Partizan, meanwhile, will be without forward Dejan Zivkovic for both legs of their second-round tie against SK Slavia Praha. Zivkovic received a two-match suspension for his red card in the final moments of the 3-3 draw against Sporting Clube de Portugal in the first round second leg. According to UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Board, "a particularly rough tackle" earned him a straight red card.

Coach punished
Partizan manager Nenad Bjekovic was also punished, receiving a four-match touchline ban for abusing the referee during the same match.
