Soon settled
In a press release Roma said that the issue would soon be settled, allowing for the completion of their €18m purchase of Romanian defender Cristian Chivu from AFC Ajax.

Statement details
The club's statement read: "Regarding the news that appeared in the media and on UEFA's official website concerning the block imposed by FIFA on international transfers, AS Roma informs that this block concerns an open dispute with Peruvian club Sporting Cristal, with whom an exchange of letters is currently taking place to resolve the issue in the quickest and best possible terms. As regards the contract stipulated with Cristian Chivu, AS Roma has delivered all details in its statement issued yesterday."
