Bajzát double undoes Ekranas

Debreceni VSC 2-1 FK Ekranas (Agg: 3-2) Debrecen's Hungarian youngster provides the difference.

Two goals from Hungarian Under-21 international Péter Bajzát provided Debreceni VSC with their place in the UEFA Cup first round although they had to wait until the first period of extra time to see off the challenge of FK Ekranas, advancing as 3-2 aggregate winners.

Slack defending
Bajzát opened his account after 41 minutes at the Oláh Gábor stadium, when he headed home from the edge of the penalty area following a cross from the left flank. The home side should have added to their tally before Vitalijus Kavaliauskas levelled in the 62nd minute following an error in the home defence.

Super sub
A backpass to Debrecen's Croatian goalkeeper Sandro Tomic was intercepted by Kavaliauskas who slotted the ball into the net in what was his first involvement in proceedings having been introduced moments before as a substitute.

Klimavicius dismissed
The home side became more desperate to find the winning goal after Arunas Klimavicius was dismissed following his second bookable offence after 71 minutes, but Bajzát was denied by the crossbar moments later. However, the final say was his as he netted the 'silver goal' winner seven minutes into the first period of extra time when he fired the ball into the far corner of the net from 15 metres to give Debrecen a deserved, if nervy, 2-1 win.
