Zé Maria poser for Perugia

AC Perugia right-back Zé Maria will miss the first leg of the UEFA Cup tie with FC Aris Thessaloniki.

Twisted ankle
The Brazilian suffered ligament damage after twisting his right ankle during last Sunday's Serie A game against Bologna FC. The 30-year-old, who was hurt in a challenge with Argentinian winger Andrés Guglielminpietro, will be out for at least three weeks.

Summer success
Perugia qualified for the UEFA Cup by winning the UEFA Intertoto Cup. After defeating Dundee FC 3-1 on aggregate in the first round, they will now play Greek side Aris over two legs next month. Zé Maria will have to sit out the first match on 6 November but will hope to be back for the return three weeks later.
