Stewart heads to Hearts

Heart of Midlothian FC have signed Manchester United FC midfield player Michael Stewart on a season's loan.

Levein happy
Scottish international Stewart has two years left on his contract at Old Trafford, but was desperate to kickstart his career after an unsuccessful spell at English first division side Nottingham Forest FC last season. Hearts head coach Craig Levein was delighted to secure the services of the 23-year-old, with the UEFA Cup contenders only responsible for his playing bonuses. However, as part of the deal, United have inserted a recall clause in January.

'Heart and soul'
"He is desperate to play for this club because he supported Hearts as a boy and sees this as a great opportunity to get his career back on track," said Levein. "From a Hearts point of view, I don't see this as a great risk, particularly financially. I think we will see a player who is not only prepared to put his money where his mouth is, but who is also prepared to put his heart and soul into this club."
