Gleb sticks with Stuttgart

Aleksandr Gleb has agreed a new contract with VfB Stuttgart keeping him at the club until 2008.

'Feel at home'
The 23-year-old midfield player has made more than 100 appearances for Stuttgart since joining from FC BATE Borisov in 2000, and will sign the new deal on Thursday after returning from international duty in Turkey. Gleb, Belarussian Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003, said: "I feel very much at home here. We have a very young team that has grown over the years. I am sure we will continue to develop and will be successful in the future."

Sammer's delight
Coach Matthias Sammer said: "It shows that Stuttgart have a bright future to look forward to. It is also important that Alex knows what the future holds so that he can concentrate on the job here." Stuttgart, who recently secured German internationals Andreas Hinkel and Kevin Kuranyi on long-term deals, begin their UEFA Cup campaign in the first round on 16 and 30 September.
