Utrecht have taken up an option to prolong the 34-year-old midfielder's career with the club by a further 12 months - handing an extension to a player who would have been out of contract at season's end.
'Experience'
De Jong is in his 12th season with Utrecht, for whom he has made more than 300 league appearances. "Jean-Paul is getting older but this young team can learn a lot from his experience," coach Foeke Booy said.
