Steaua ready to sell Neaga

FC Steaua Bucuresti striker Adrian Neaga is set to join Korean side Chunnam Dragons for €750,000.

Striker Adrian Neaga looks set to leave FC Steaua Bucuresti after the club agreed to sell him to Korean side Chunnam Dragons.

Transfer fee
Neaga, who was surprisingly left out of the side beaten 2-0 at Valencia CF in the first leg of their UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie last night, will be sold to the K-League club for a fee of €750,000, provided he accepts the move.

Contract expiring
Owner Gigi Becali said: "Neaga will leave our club regardless of the results against Valencia. I sold him because his contract expires in nine months and, if he decided to leave then, we would not receive any transfer fee for him."

'I cried'
Neaga was upset at being left out of the team last night and seemed equally unhappy about the prospect of a move east. "I cried when I heard that I would not play and I don't know what I will do," he said. "I have not signed the contract with the Koreans, but now anything can happen."

Top scorer
The former FC Arges Pitesti striker is expected to sign the deal which would him earn an annual salary of €300,000 for the next three years. He joined Steaua from Arges in 2001 and after a shaky start which saw him spend a short spell on loan at Saudi Arabian side Al-Nasr, he was Steaua's top scorer in 2003/04 and also leads the rankings this season.
