Rising stars
After allowing Christofer Heimeroth to join VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach, the Bundesliga side - who enter the UEFA Cup in the first round - have now made the 20-year-old Neuer, who is a German Under-20 international, Rost's understudy. The club's new third choice goalkeeper is the 19-year-old Dennis Lamczyk. "I am very happy because how many goalkeepers of my age get to sit on the bench in the Bundesliga?" said Neuer, who has been a member of Schalke's first-team squad since 2005. "This is a boost in my bid to be No1 one day."
