RCD Espanyol have awarded a four-year contract to young midfielder Julián López de Lerma after an impressive campaign on the fringes of the first team at the Olímpico de Montjuic.
UEFA Cup bow
The homegrown Julián, 20, made his debut for the Barcelona club in the UEFA Cup group stage win at AC Sparta Praha and subsequently enjoyed another substitute cameo in the home victory over FK Austria Wien. He has also come off the bench three times in the Primera División for an Espanyol side preparing for a UEFA Cup semi-final against Werder Bremen on 26 April and 3 May.
