Zenga accepts Dinamo challenge

Former Italy goalkeeper Walter Zenga has secured a return to Romanian football, being unveiled as the new coach of champions FC Dinamo 1948 Bucureşti.

Former Italy goalkeeper Walter Zenga has returned to Romanian football, being unveiled as the new coach of FC Dinamo 1948 Bucureşti.

Contract signed
The 47-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Liga 1 title-holders after Mircea Rednić resigned on Saturday in the wake of a 1-0 home defeat by AFC Gloria 1922 Bistrita. That had followed the club's UEFA Champions League elimination and Dinamo president Nicolae Badea has set a fresh agenda for the newcomer, saying that the targets are to defend the league championship and qualify for the UEFA Cup group stage.

Third Romanian post
Dinamo become Zenga's third Liga 1 side after previous spells at FC Steaua Bucureşti and FC National Bucureşti. He said: "I come to Dinamo with an open heart and aim to achieve something special." He spent last term at Turkish club Gaziantepspor and has a fortnight to prepare his new charges for their UEFA Cup first round meeting with IF Elfsborg.
