Having scored FC Zürich's winning goal at AC Sparta Praha last night, French forward Alexandre Alphonse has had his contract with the Swiss champions extended by three years until June 2012.
Successive titles
The 25-year-old joined Zürich in September 2005 from FC La Chaux-de-Fonds and has since scored 16 goals in 53 league games – helping his club to successive titles. Speaking after the 2-1 UEFA Cup Group E triumph in Prague, coach Bernard Challandes said: "Alphonse showed with his goal how important he is for FC Zürich. We believe we'll have plenty of success together in the future." Zürich, who do not play on Matchday 2, are next in European action at home to Toulouse FC on 29 November.
