ACF Fiorentina will look to mark their 100th UEFA club competition game in style as coach Cesare Prandelli seeks a first win on Greek soil at AEK Athens FC.

• Fiorentina will be making their 100th appearance in UEFA club competition since making their continental debut with a 1-1 draw at home against Sweden's IFK Norrköping in the 1956/57 European Champion Clubs' Cup first round.

• Fiorentina come into the game fresh from earning their biggest ever win in European competition, beating IF Elfsborg 6-1 at home on Matchday 2. The only down side of the result was that the goal they let in was the 100th they had conceded in UEFA club competition.

• Having drawn 1-1 at Villarreal CF in their opening game, Fiorentina now top Group C with four points. AEK are third having drawn their only game to date 1-1 at Elfsborg.

• Victory against AEK would earn Fiorentina a place in the knockout stage.

• The two sides have never met in UEFA club competition.

• AEK have already played 16 games against Italian sides in European competition, winning two, drawing five and losing nine. At home, they have won two, drawn four and lost two, with their most recent meeting producing a 1-0 win against AC Milan in last season's UEFA Champions League group stage.

• That victory was also coach Lorenzo Serra Ferrer's only victory against Italian opposition. In three previous games - also against Milan - as coach of FC Barcelona and then AEK, he had picked up a draw and two defeats.

• Fiorentina have never played against Greek opposition.

• Fiorentina coach Prandelli was involved in four games against Greek sides as a player. His Juventus team won 4-0 at home and lost 4-2 away against Panathinaikos FC in a 1980/81 UEFA Cup game, while during a spell at Atalanta BC he lost 1-0 away against OFI Crete FC but won 2-0 at home in the 1987 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.

• Thus he is yet to earn a win on Greek soil.

• Prandelli may be replaced by his assistant Gabriele Pin for the game in Athens. The coach is in mourning following the death of his wife Manuela in the days leading up to the match after a long illness.

• AEK's Austrian goalkeeper Jürgen Macho and Fiorentina's Romanian forward Adrian Mutu were team-mates at Chelsea FC in the 2003/04 season, although Macho did not make a single Premier League appearance in his only campaign at Stamford Bridge.

• AEK midfielder Akis Zikos and Fiorentina striker Christian Vieri were briefly team-mates at AS Monaco FC. Zikos played for the club between 2002 and 2006, while Vieri scored three goals in seven league games for the Principality club in 2005/06.

• AEK's Nikolaos Liberopoulos is one booking away from a suspension, while the same fate awaits Fiorentina's Marco Donadel.

• Elfsborg are at home against FK Mladá Boleslav in the day's other Group C game.
