Baines blow for Everton

Everton FC left-back Leighton Baines will be out of action for the next four to six weeks after the 23-year-old picked up a hamstring injury on Saturday.

Everton FC left-back Leighton Baines will be out of action for four to six weeks after the 23-year-old picked up a hamstring injury in Saturday's 3-0 Premier League win against Fulham FC.

'He has done so well'
With a scan on the problem revealing a muscle tear, manager David Moyes is resigned to being without Baines for Everton's remaining UEFA Cup Group A game at AZ Alkmaar on 20 December, although his side are already certain of topping the section. "We have had the results of the scan and it looks like Leighton is going to be out for four to six weeks," said Moyes. "It's a blow because he has done so well for us. With Alan Stubbs also out, we are a little bit limited at the back." The Liverpool-born defender joined hometown club Everton from Wigan Athletic FC this summer.
