Rodriguez commits future to Marseille

Olympique de Marseille centre-back Julien Rodriguez has signed a three-year extension to his contract, tying him to the southern Ligue 1 side until June 2012.

Olympique de Marseille centre-back Julien Rodriguez has signed a three-year extension to his contract, tying him to the southern side until June 2012.

'Bring home trophies'
The 29-year-old Rodriguez, who joined OM one year ago from Rangers FC, was delighted to commit his future to a team he said "are starting a project which will bring home trophies". Rodriguez, who began his career with AS Monaco FC and was in the side that reached the 2004 UEFA Champions League final, has appeared in 17 league games this season, scoring three times. Marseille are at home to FC Spartak Moskva in the first leg of their UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie on 13 February.
