Greek international defender Traianos Dellas has been released by AEK Athens FC after failing to reach an agreement with the club over a new contract.

'Good luck'
The 32-year-old centre-back, who was an integral part of his country's UEFA EURO 2004™ triumph, joined AEK from AS Roma in the summer of 2005 and made 43 top-flight appearances in his second spell with the club. "The team's administration would like to thank him for his valuable contribution in those three years and wish him good luck in the next step of his great career," a statement on the club's website read.

Liberopoulos departure
Dellas has been capped 45 times by Greece and played in all three of his nation's games at UEFA EURO 2008™. He is the second Greek international to leave AEK this summer following the departure of Nikos Liberopoulos to Eintracht Frankfurt. AEK begin their UEFA Cup campaign in the second qualifying round which is played on 14 and 28 August.
