Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has undergone surgery to repair a damaged meniscus in his left knee two months after announcing the injury, ruling the Italian international out of action for around 40 days.

Bari defeat
Buffon played on Saturday as the Bianconeri lost 3-1 at AS Bari, their fourth defeat in five games, and they slipped six points behind FC Internazionale Milano in Serie A after the leaders drew on Sunday. Tuesday's 4-1 reverse at home to FC Bayern München also ended their UEFA Champions League adventure for this season and leaves them chasing UEFA Europa League glory in 2010. Buffon had postponed surgery on his knee until after vital European and domestic matches.

Camoranesi out
Meanwhile, right-winger Mauro Camoranesi suffered a right thigh injury eleven minutes after coming on as a substitute in the defeat against Bari. Tests confirmed that the Argentinian-born 33-year-old tore the muscle and he faces two months on the sidelines.
