Sílvio, the Portuguese international defender, has completed his transfer from SC Braga to Club Atlético de Madrid for a fee reported to be in the region of €8m.

The 23-year-old − a member of the Braga side that finished runners-up to FC Porto in the UEFA Europa League final − has agreed terms on a five-year deal at the Vicente Calderón, where he will join recently-appointed coach Gregorio Manzano.

The Lisbon-born player scored one goal in 20 Liga appearances last term and has also featured twice in Portugal's UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying campaign. Atlético, who finished seventh in the Spanish top flight last season, will learn their UEFA Europa League fate when the third qualifying round draw is made on 15 July.
