Porto's Lopes takes up Braga challenge

"I hope to develop as a player and it will be a good experience," said Miguel Lopes after agreeing to move on loan to SC Braga from FC Porto until the end of the season.

UEFA Europa League contenders SC Braga have signed full-back Miguel Lopes on loan from FC Porto until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old right-back, who has joined last season's UEFA Europa League finalists as cover for the injured Baiano and Gil Vicente FC loanee Rodrigo Galo, has yet to feature this season after a move to Real Zaragoza last summer fell though at the eleventh hour.

"They are a fantastic club and it will be a pleasure to play for Braga," said former Rio Ave FC defender Lopes, who spent the second half of last term on loan with Real Betis Balompié. "They are still in the Europa League and have offered me the chance to play more often. I hope to develop as a player and it will be a good experience."

Leonardo Jardim's side face Beşiktaş JK in the UEFA Europa League round of 32, with the Turkish side visiting Portugal for the first leg on 14 February before the return a week a later.
