Belgian international forward Igor De Camargo has returned to R. Standard de Liège following a spell in Germany, signing a three-year contract with his old club with the option of an additional 12 months.

"This certainly is not a step backwards," insisted the 30-year-old, who has been capped nine times by Belgium and won titles with Standard in 2008 and 2009. "Standard challenge for the title every year and also play European football. They would certainly be good enough to hold their own in the Bundesliga. This was a superb opportunity."

The Brazilian-born De Camargo left the Stade Maurice Dufrasne for VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2010, but spent the latter part of last season on loan at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Standard enter this season's UEFA Europa League in the second qualifying round.
