Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, holders Sevilla, Athletic Club, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sparta Praha, Villarreal and Braga will make up Friday's UEFA Europa League quarter-final draw.

Liverpool prevailed in perhaps the highest-profile tie of the round, a 1-1 draw at Manchester United enough to go through 3-1 on aggregate. Borussia Dortmund triumphed at White Hart Lane – as they had at home last week – to see off Tottenham with ease, while Braga mounted a remarkable second-half comeback to oust Fenerbahçe, who had won in Istanbul but ended with eight men in Portugal. Holders Sevilla, meanwhile, brushed aside Basel at home having been held to a goalless draw in Switzerland.

Elsewhere, Sparta Praha sprung one of the biggest surprises of the evening, three first-half goals in Rome earning them a 4-1 aggregate success over Lazio. Valencia scored two of their own in the opening period against Athletic, but competition leading marksman Aritz Aduriz later hit the net to put Ernesto Valverde's team through on away goals. Shakhtar and Villarreal also progressed.
