Dozen more names in last-32 hat

Twelve more clubs made it through to the round of 32 as the UEFA Europa League dominated the footballing agenda, with nine more spaces to be filled when the group stage concludes on Matchday 6.

A dozen more clubs made it through to the round of 32 as the UEFA Europa League dominated the footballing agenda, with nine more spaces to be filled when the group stage concludes on Matchday 6.

Home and dry
With FC Shakhtar Donetsk, Werder Bremen and Galatasaray AŞ already safely through to the last 32, Wednesday saw Fenerbahçe SK, Villarreal CF, SL Benfica, FC Salzburg, Everton, Hamburger SV, AFC Ajax and Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC join them, while by the end of Thursday's games, PSV Eindhoven, AS Roma, Sporting Clube de Portugal and Athletic Club had also sealed their place in the draw. Celtic FC and S.S. Lazio are among the sides who will go no further, with results on Matchday 5 ensuring two of Europe's bigger clubs will end their campaigns on 16 and 17 December.

Knockout draws
The draws for the round of 32 and round of 16 will be held in Nyon on 18 December at 13.00CET. Clubs from the same association cannot be drawn against each other in the round of 32. The 12 UEFA Europa League group winners and the four best third-ranked teams in the UEFA Champions League group stage will be drawn against the 12 UEFA Europa League group runners-up and the remaining third-ranked teams in the UEFA Champions League group stage. The group winners and the four best third-ranked in the UEFA Champions League group stage play the return leg at home. Winners and runners-up from the same group cannot be drawn against each other.
