Amoroso joins Dortmund injury list

BV Borussia Dortmund's Brazilian striker Marcio Amoroso will be out for six weeks with a knee injury.

BV Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that striker Marcio Amoroso will be out of action for at least six weeks after tearing a ligament in his right knee.

Training injury
Amoroso suffered the injury during training on Wednesday, and an x-ray confirmed the club's worst fears. The Brazilian is not expected to return to training until November, and joins Heiko Herrlich, Evanilson, Torsten Frings, Guy Demel, Flavio Conceição and Christoph Metzelder on the sidelines.

Bremen next
Sports director Michael Zorc said: "At the moment things are very hard. He is the fifth long-term injury, while Conceição has a torn muscle and Heiko Herrlich a harmstring injury." All the injured players will miss tomorrow's match against German league leaders SV Werder Bremen.

Austria test
After losing to Club Brugge KV in UEFA Champions League qualifying, Dortmund will face Austrian title-holders FK Austria Wien in the first round of the UEFA Cup. The first leg is in Vienna on 24 September.
