Beşiktaş JK have signed Turkish Under-21 international goalkeeper Cenk Gönen from relegated Super League side Denizlispor on a five-year contract.

The Black Eagles have paid €1m for the 22-year-old with defender Emre Özkan moving in the other direction. A product of Izmir club Göztepe AŞ, Cenk turned professional in 2004 and at 16 came to prominence with a fine performance in a Turkish Cup tie at home to Beşiktaş which his side lost 1-0.

Denizlispor signed Cenk in 2006 and after a loan at second-tier Altay GK in 2007/08 he established himself at the Super League side the following season. Cenk's arrival follows Beşiktaş awarding another goalkeeper, Hakan Arıkan, a three-year deal earlier this week, and the pair will vie with Rüştü Reçber and Korcan Çelikay at the club now coached by Bernd Schuster. Beşiktaş face Vikingur on 15 and 22 July in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round.
